Hi everyone!
This is my first ever blog post on this platform, but I can't count how many blogs I've had in the past. I've been on Tumblr, Blogspot, Livejournal, and now Wix! Though I enjoy blogging, I've just not been able to commit to continuing a blog, among other goals that I've tried to set for myself.
If you're someone whose ever struggled to keep doing something, then I'm sure you can relate. I really want to challenge myself to stick to something, whatever it may be. Blogging has always been something that I enjoyed, whether it be about fashion (my first ever blog was a fashion blog!), travel, reviews or just my thoughts. But along the way, I either get discouraged to continue it, or get confused why I started the blog in the first place.
It's not just with blogging. For some time now, I've really struggled to keep at something consistently, and it's been hard. You know how you start out at the beginning of the year with all these plans and resolutions, like staying healthy, working out etc., but come mid February you're binge eating on fastfood? Well, it's not been easy for me dealing with that kind of transition, because I tend to beat myself up for not being able to stick to my goals.
BUT!
I know I can't give up on trying to improve myself. Because at the core of all the goals I set for myself, I just want to try to be the best person I can be, and try to live a happier, healthier life.
Right now, I'm going through quite a transition phase in my life - starting a new job soon after being in the same company for three years. I'm also going to be 25 next year! I've talked to some friends who are also 24, and they find 25 really scary. It's like you have to have achieved something and made something of yourself by that way. So, I think this is the perfect time for me to challenge myself once again, and this time, make sure to be consistent.
One thing that inspired me to start this project is the movie Julie and Julia.
In the movie, Julie Powell (played by Amy Adams), a secretary in a government agency who doesn't really enjoy her job but has a passion for cooking, decides to start a blog about her Julie / Julia Project, a project where she challenges herself to cook a recipe from Julia Child's cookbook for an entire year. On good days, and even on bad days, she diligently worked through the recipes in Julia Child's massive cookbook. I could relate to the character a lot, because throughout doing the project, there were moments when she questioned why she was doing it, when she wanted to give up, when she was frustrated when she felt she wasn't good enough, but she persevered. She didn't stop. She took it one day at a time, and I want to do that too.
For my project, I plan to blog about the things that I love and am enthusiastic about:
- Skin-care and Beauty
- Books
- Art and Inspiration
- Daily realization and thoughts
- Things I am grateful for
Hopefully, aside from being a project for self-improvement and creative expression, this project also helps some people. :)
"To begin, begin."
